    What is 3D Scanning?<\/h3>

    3D scanning is a non-contact measurement process that captures the exact physical geometry of an object and creates a high-precision digital 3D model.<\/p>\n

    Using optical measurement systems, the process captures millions of individual coordinate points across an object\u2019s surface to generate a dense pointcloud. This data is merged into a high-resolution polygonal mesh (STL), creating an accurate 1:1 digital representation of the physical part.<\/p>\n

    The core goal is absolute geometric accuracy.     What 3D Scanning Isn\u2019t<\/h3>

    3D scanning is often misunderstood as a one-click magic button. To set realistic expectations, it is equally important to understand what the technology does not do on its own:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Surface Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n

    When scanning black or other light absorbing surfaces that interfere with the working light source of the scanners, or highly reflective, polished, or transparent surfaces, we often use temporary spray coatings, called 3D scanning sprays.\u00a0 This temporary matte white layer prevents reflections and also provide an even, bright, high contrast surface for clean data capture.
